Myofascial Release

Restore Balance. Release Restriction. Return to Movement.

Struggling with "stuck" tension or chronic pain that relaxation massage won’t reach? MFR is a specialized, gentle therapy that targets the body’s connective tissue. By using slow, long sustained pressure, it unwinds deep restrictions to improve posture, resolve old injuries, and helping you move effortlessly and live pain-free. Experience lasting relief while targeting the "fascia" to resolve chronic pain and restricted motion.

Why Focus On Facia?

Fascia plays a major role in chronic pain, movement restriction, and recurring tension. When it becomes tight or restricted, it can pull on the body in multiple directions, often creating pain or dysfunction far from the original source.

Because fascia adapts slowly, quick or superficial techniques may provide temporary relief but fail to create lasting change. Myofascial Release works especially well for stubborn areas that don’t seem to “hold” results with other treatments. By addressing restrictions at the fascial level, the body is able to reorganize more effectively—often leading to longer-lasting improvements in:

· Comfort & Pain Relief

· Postural Alignment

· Fluidity of Movement

· Chronic Tension Resolution

What to Expect During Your Session

During an MFR session, your therapist will feel for "restrictions"—areas that feel tight, hard, or stuck. Once a restriction is found, gentle pressure is applied anywhere from 3-10 minutes in the same area. You may feel a sensation of heat, tingling, or a "stretching" feeling as the tissue begins to release. We follow the body's lead, never pushing past its natural resistance, allowing for a profound and restorative experience.

How to Prepare for Your Myofascial Release Session

To ensure the most effective treatment, MFR requires a different approach than a standard massage. Please follow these guidelines:

· Skin Preparation: Sessions are performed directly on dry skin. Please do not apply any lotions, creams, or oils to your skin on the day of your session.

· What to Wear: Please wear clothing that allows for hands-on access to the body. Comfort matters—think “gym ready,” not “spa day.”

Women: Athletic or loose-fitting shorts with a sports bra or tank top.

Men: Athletic or loose-fitting shorts.

· Hydration: As with all our bodywork services, please arrive well-hydrated to help your tissues respond more effectively to the treatment.

Who is a Good Candidate for MFR?

1. Chronic Pain Sufferers

If you have been dealing with persistent pain that hasn't responded to traditional physical therapy or relaxing massage, MFR may be the missing link.

Fibromyalgia & Myofascial Pain Syndrome: MFR provides a gentle enough touch to avoid "flaring" the nervous system while still creating physical change.

Chronic Back & Neck Pain: For those who feel "stiff" rather than just "sore."

2. Post-Surgical & Injury Recovery

Once a surgical site or injury has healed, the resulting scar tissue can pull on surrounding fascia, creating "tugging" sensations or restricted movement.

Scar Tissue Release: Helps soften and realign adhesions from surgeries (like C-sections, joint replacements, or abdominal surgery).

Old Injuries: Addresses the compensations your body made years ago that are just now causing pain.

3. Athletes & Active Individuals

High-impact training can cause the fascia to become "bound down" and less elastic.

Restoring Range of Motion: Ideal for runners, lifters, or yogis who feel they've hit a "wall" in their flexibility.

Repetitive Stress: Great for those with Carpal Tunnel, Tennis Elbow, or Plantar Fasciitis.

4. Postural Imbalances

If you spend your day at a desk or commuting, your fascia eventually "sets" in a forward-slumped position.

Tech Neck & Rounded Shoulders: MFR helps "unwind" the fascial patterns that keep you locked in poor posture.

Pelvic Tilts: Helps balance the hips to relieve pressure on the lower back.

5. Those Seeking Stress Relief

Fascia holds a significant amount of emotional and physical tension. Because MFR requires slow, sustained holds, it down-regulates the nervous system, making it excellent for:

High-stress lifestyle

Anxiety and brain fog

General feelings of being "tight"
